My Name is Natasha Kamenskaia. I was born in Russia, in the city of Moscow. I came to Australia in 1992 and since then I took a long and difficult journey to become an artist. I gained my experience and knowledge by putting it all together grain by grain.
Creating Art has become my Life, it's mixed together like sand and water, I just have to shape it the way I like it.
I finished Chisholm Institute of TAFE in 2001,where I did my Visual Art Diploma and continued study at Victorian College of The Arts, majoring in Sculpture. It has become my way of thinking.
My art work had a big transformation from wood and stone carvings to mad papiermache installations. Some of it has found its place in private collections all over Melbourne. After that, I graduated from Monash University as a Secondary teacher and opened my owned Art Studio for children and adults. It would be almost the happy ever after,
But then my life unexpectedly turned around and I found myself standing at the Rye beach in a +38C with a shovel in my hands, building a sand castle with a bunch of great sculptors. I would always remember these days as the happiest days of my life. That is where the sand becomes alive. I find it the most inspirational medium to work with. I came across doing different type of projects with sand and absolutely love it. It can get as hard as rock, softened, melted and drip like wax or run like water. It has endless flexibility and expressiveness. I create sculptures, animations and illustrations and much more. You are very welcome to have a look at some of my work. Sand Cheers...
